S-555 USS Cuyama Collection

Photo album of 27 images plus 18 loose photos related to the launching of USS Cuyama (AO-3) at Mare Island, June 17, 1917. The album was prepared by Mare Island Navy Yard for presentation to Miss Margaret Offley, the sponsor of USS Cuyama. All its contents show or relate to the launching. Many of the photographs have been color tinted. Specific subjects include Miss Margaret Offley, USS Cuyama ready to launch, being christened, after launching, and off Mare Island; launching machinery, Mayor James Roney; and various unidentified officers and senior civilian staff of the Mare Island Navy Yard.
