Cablegram Received August 11 1917

Origin Opnav, Washington                                               Ser. No. 9579

9579 – Your 2260. Present conditions render it inadvisable to send any submarine chasers abroad in excess of the 144 already allotted before next spring. It is planned to allocate 36 EAGLE boats to Stations abroad at that time if they can be used there to advantage. Of the 144 submarine chasers previously allotted 41 remaining in home waters will be sent abroad as soon as the submarine chasers assigned Naval Districts can be properly equipped and organized for hunting out areas adjacent to our coast 21007 9579
