Midway KIA List
This is a list of Midway KIA (122k pdf download), which includes the three USN Sailors who were murdered by the Japanese while POWs, the Hornet (CV-8) friendly fire casualties (Pierce, on Benham (DD-796), may have been another), and differentiating between VMF-221 and VMSB-241 ground people and the pilots/radio gunners.
The list not include the loss of two Hornet Sailors (pilot and radio gunner) who died on a routine search mission on 29 May, and the death of VF-3's executive officer in an operational accident when Yorktown (CV-5) was recovering her air group off Oahu, because they were not combat deaths.
