Description: These two wooden handgun grips recovered from USS San Diego (Armored Cruiser No. 6) are likely from a Colt M1911. The Colt M1911 is a semi-automatic pistol that was very popular during the 20th century and is still in use today. It was standard issue from 1911 to 1992 for both the United States Army and Navy.
