Sole
A flatfish distinguished by a small mouth with a projecting snout, small gill openings, and eyes placed close together. The European variety is one of the world's best food fishes.
The name Sole was assigned to SS-410, but the submarine was renamed Threadfin (q.v.) on 23 August 1942, prior to the laying of her keel on 18 March 1944.
