Quileute (YTB-540) was laid down 17 February 1945 by Consolidated Shipbuilding Corp., Morris Heights, N.Y.; launched 14 May 1945; and placed in service 16 October 1945. Quileute began active duty for the 1st Naval District, Boston, Mass., in March 1946. In February 1962, she was reclassified YTM-540. Into 1970 she remains active with the 1st District.
