Kabout (YTB-221)

Kabout (YT-221) was launched in December 1943 at Elizabeth City, N.C., by the Elizabeth City Shipyard; sponsored by Mrs. J. C. Fegan; and reclassified as a big harbor tug, YTB-221, on 15 May 1944 prior to being placed in service on 3 July for duty in the Fifth Naval District.

Kabout remained in operation in the Norfolk-Hampton Roads area until 1 May 1959 when she was stricken from the Navy Register. She was sold to Ships, Inc., Norfolk, Va., on 7 August 1959.
