Caption: Ready for re-launching at the Portsmouth Navy Yard, New Hampshire, in 1881 during her reconstruction. Note the large ram which was fitted to her bow during this rebuilding. Also note the bilge keels, which were probably among the first fitted to a U.S. Navy warship.
