NH 70338-KN Insignia: USS JUNEAU (LPD-10)

Insignia: USS JUNEAU (LPD-10)
Title: Insignia: USS JUNEAU (LPD-10)
Caption: This emblem, adopted in 1968-1969, was designed by Mrs. Charlotte Monroe, wife of the ship's prospective commanding officer, and selected by vote of the crew. Supported by the amphibious force alligators, the central shield contains a Sitka Spruce, state tree of Alaska, and a depiction of the mountains around the city of Juneau. The two stars honor the two previous ships to bear the name. The design is surrounded by a length of line, symbol of naval command, unbroken to represent the unity of the ship's crew.
