Caption: This insignia was received by the Naval History Division in 1958. Its main feature is a figure of the Lion of Saint Mark, original namesake of SAN MARCOS. The lion was also the symbol of the Venetian Republic during her days as a great sea power. Thus, the insignia's connection with Maritime matters is established.
