Caption: Stipple engraving by Caroline Watson after a drawing by W. Evans. Probably dates from the late eighteenth century. Sir Hyde Parker entered the Royal Navy in 1738 as an able Seaman; Lieutenant, 1744-1745; Captain, 1747-1748; Rear Admiral, 1778; Vice Admiral, 1780. Parker served as Commanding Officer of the Leeward Islands Station in 1779-1780. He also was involved in a number of fleet actions during the American war.
