Caption: Too busy to eat below deck, coast Guardsmen aboard the CAMPBELL eat in the open as the gallant ship is towed to an unnamed east coast port after having rammed the sixth Nazi U-Boat she contacted within a 12 hour period. In ramming the submarine the CAMPBELL suffered a 12- foot rent in her hull. Her engines were flooded and her electrical system was powerless. Shown at the left is assistant surgeon Anthony J. Lund, U.S. Public Health Service, attached to the coast guard cutter, talking to Edmond E. Pillari Chief Boatswain's Mate. Assistant Surgeon Lund is from Long Island City, Long Island, New York.
