Description: "Vice Admiral William M. Beakley, (center) Commander US Seventh Fleet, accepts, on behalf of the US Naval Academy, a Japanese stone lantern from Yokohama's Mayor Ryozo Hironuma (left) in a presentation ceremony aboard the Admiral's flagship USS Saint Paul (CA73). The seven foot high, four thousand pound lantern is symbolic of the friendship that exists between Japan and the United States and in particular, between the citizens of Yokohama and Navy and Marine Corps personnel who have served in the Far East. It will be installed on the grounds of the new Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at Annapolis, Maryland. To the right of Admiral Beakley is his Chief of Staff and Aide, Captain Arthur F. Spring."
