S-562 Stanley A. Ward Collection

Collection of 29 photographs and several documents related to Stanley A. Ward, who served as a USNR Officer during WWII. The images reflect his time stationed at NAS Jacksonville (1941-1942) and NAS San Diego. Naval Air Station Jacksonville imagery includes group photos of the Aviation Metalsmith School classes of S1-42 and S4-42; group photos the NAS Jacksonville service schools, circa August 1942 (identification of individuals is included on back of image); a visit by RADM Albert C. Read to NAS Jacksonville, October 1942; and CAPT Charles P. Mason at his desk at NAS Jacksonville, September 1942. Images related to the Special Projects School for Air (SPSA) at NSA San Diego, May 1945 include Ward at his desk; various aviation electronics and equipment (mixer box, pulse generator, simulator setup, radar receiver, etc.); and the radio and plot room (with RBY-1 radio), engineering shops and pilot ready room at SPSA.
