Description: 10 prints (plus a duplicate set) made from negatives related to the establishment and relief of the Advanced Base Shack established during the “Little America II” Antarctic Expedition of 1933-1935. RAdm. Richard E. Byrd manned the shack in March-October 1934 and in it he was nearly killed by carbon monoxide fumes before a rescue party could arrive. Views include interior views of the shack and on top of the roof.
