Description: 68 color slides showing the construction of U.S. Navy VLF radio towers at Point Murat, North West Cape, Western Australia, during the 1960’s, later renamed U.S. Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt. Photos show erection of the structure, workmen on the ground and scaling the towers, and the surrounding countryside. Slides were from the donor’s father, James Unsworth, who worked on the project as an Engineering Technician. There are no photo captions provided. Collection also includes a photocopied hand drawn map of the surrounding area, and miscellaneous papers from Unsworth’s time working for the Navy, including an award recommendation which gives some detail about the towers construction project.
