2016.45 Mark Thompson Collection

Collection of approximately 110 b/w photos related to the WWII service of Earl F. Thompson (Seabees) in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. The subjects in the images consist of various construction projects, tent and Quonset hut encampments, buddies/pals, and general scenic photos of Alaska (exact locations unknown). The construction photos appear to be of bridge and facilities building. Also included is the post cemetery (possibly on Attu). A sign maker notes the location where Colonel Yasuyo Yamasaki died on Attu Island in 1943. The collection also consists of two oversized prints of Thompson’s basic training company in Farragut, ID (July 29, 1944), company 663, regiment 3, battalion 11.
