Description: Photo album related to the WWI service of J. Harvey Anderson, beginning with graduation at the Naval Electrical School, Mare Island, California, and including shipboard & liberty scenes. The 1918 graduation, squadron, and school scenes include various formations, individual sailors, buildings, and exercises at Mare Island. There are lots of photos of good buddies/pals, group shots, and general activities related to daily life (cleaning, reading, mascots, goofing off, etc.). Included are photos of liberty in San Francisco, including various city and beach scenes. It appears Anderson served aboard USS Gridley (DD-92). Photos include many shipboard scenes, including above deck, target practice, loading guns, and general activities. There are two images of a Curtiss NC-4 during a Trans-Atlantic flight crashed into the ocean. Images include: going through the Panama Canal; Azores Islands; Brest, France (including USS George Washington - President Wilson's transport ship, May 28, 1919); Paris, France (lots of liberty/tourist type imagery); Venice, Italy (with USS Gridley in the canals)
