Description: Approximately 150 photographs, along with assorted paper materials and one piece of art, from the life and career of Chief of Naval Operations Admiral William Harrison Standley (18 December 1872 - 25 October 1963). Photographs show Admiral Standley during his naval career, and as a retired civilian. Naval service scenes include several photos as Chief of Naval Operations, and in the Pacific during World War II. Civilian imagery includes his tenure as Ambassador to the Soviet Union (1941-1943), 1939 World's Fair, and various business functions including Pan Am and the American Red Cross. Transferred from the Naval Historical Foundation in 2007.
