Wide ranging collection of 700+ photographs from the early 20th century. Many photographs relate to mine operations in the North Atlantic during WWI. Others show training in and around Norfolk. Various views of the Panama Canal and Japan during WW2 are also included. Vessels off Scotland during WWI include: USS Shawmut; USS Housatonic; USS Blackhawk; USS San Francisco; USS Quinnebaug; USS Saranac; USS Piqua; USS Hubbard; USS O’Briend; USS Plunkett; USS Gleaves and various American minesweepers in Kirkwall Bay. The Navy preflight school in Athens, Georgia and the Eagle 1 are shown in a series of photographs.
