Title: Sharon Storey Collection
Description: Collection of 57 photographs taken in Brazil from 1943 to 1946 from the naval service of Robert Wilson Storey, who was stationed in Recife as a shore patrol officer. Subjects include Eleanor Roosevelt’s visit to the naval bases at Natal & Recife in 1944 (the events of this trip were captured in a column titled “My Day”, written by Mrs. Roosevelt); USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) during her shakedown cruise to Brazil in 1946; Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox’s visit to Recife in 1943; and German POWs brought to Recife before being sent to the US for interrogation.
