Description: Collection of images related to the naval service of Howard Sanders at NTS Great Lakes, IL & aboard USS California (BB-44), 1937-1939, USS Grunion (SS-216), 1941. Image of USS California include: Curtiss SOC Seagull, officers and crew, loading shells, docked at Pearl Harbor & San Diego, Christmas time (including a tree on deck), in dry dock, & firing guns. NTS Great Lakes consists of formations, marching, & company graduation class. Also included is a partial crew photo of USS Grunion (SS-216), 1941, aerials of Bremerton Navy Yard (1937) & S-29, the ship Sanders served on prior to SS-216.
