Title: Royal Naval Museum Photo Collection
Description: Collection of 9 negatives and prints of a silver cup presented to CAPT Richard Pearson, RN by the Royal Exchange Assurance, in honor of his engagement with USS Bon Homme Richard (Captain John Paul Jones). Pearson was in command on HMS Serapis. Despite his loss of his ship, Pearson’s conduct in the action enabled the convoy under his charge to escape. The cup was made in 1780-1781 by Jon Wakelin and William Taylor and is owned by the Royal Naval Museum at Portsmouth, England. It was photographed while on brief loan to the US Navy Memorial Museum in 1981.
