Description: Collection of approximately 100 photos related to the base at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island, circa 1960 to early 1970s. Photos consist of aerials of the base, buildings, aircraft, runways, decommissioning of USS Intrepid (CVS-11), and visits from President Richard Nixon (who went through basic naval officer training at Quonset Point in 1942) and SECNAV John Chafee, as well as others. Also included are several images of neighboring Camp Endicott at Davisville, home of the Naval Construction Battalions known as the Seabees. There are quite a few photos regarding damage done to the Davisville area by Hurricane Carol, September 1954.
