Collection of 22 photographs related to the naval career of Barnet Phillips III, Commander, USNR, and naval air operations in the Pacific Ocean during WWII aboard USS Shamrock Bay (CVE-84). The photographs mainly consist of subjects related to aircraft maintenance, testing, repairs, tools, and equipment. The photos are official US Navy and each contains a description associated with the print. The collection also contains a typed report by Phillips titled “Maintenance Hints Aboard a CVE”). This reports the various aircraft maintenance improvements and shortcuts developed while onboard USS Shamrock. The report notes that all included photographs were taken by J.F. White on May 5, 1945. Several handwritten charts outline the number of flights and planes aboard as well as flight hours of each, including the Okinawa Operation (March 13-May 5, 1945).
