Description: Photographs related to the retirement ceremony of the last Navy Seaplane, Martin SP-5 Marlin, 12 July 1968. The ceremony took place at US Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland. Speakers and VIPS included: VADM Thomas F. Connolly, John Nicholas Brown (of the Smithsonian), Cpt. Hugh J. Tate, Cpt. V.P. O'Neil, and RA Daniel V. Gallery. One image was taken as a final run down in San Diego Harbor at the origin of the final cross-country flight.
