Description: 27 black and white photographs showing earthquake destruction at Managua, Nicaragua, 1931, and ensuing US Navy and Marine Corps rescue activities. Receiving via the Bureau of Medicine in 1976. Views show ruined buildings, smoke from fires, recovery of bodies, and medical tents assisting patients. Dr. Mauldin and his wife, a registered nurse, assisted in the efforts. Also 1 photo of Dental Department, US Naval Hospital, Charleston, South Carolina, 1927.
