NHF-139 Richard Mindle Collection

96 page leather-bound scrapbook entitled “A Few Snapshots during the China Cruise of Rear Admiral R.F. Nicholson, U.S. Navy, Commander in Chief, U.S. Asiatic Fleet 1912-1914,” donated by Richard Mindle to the Naval Historical Foundation in 1956, subsequently donated to the Naval History and Heritage Command. Ships seen include: USS Albany (CL-23), Dutch ship Holland, USS Saratoga (ACR-2), USS Rainbow (AS-7), USS Cincinnati (C-7), HMS Hampshire, SMS Leipzig, Chinese cruiser Hai-Yung class, many private and merchant vessels. Personnel seen include: Rear Admiral Reginald Ferguson, Commander Daniel Wurtsbaugh, Commander Henry Wiley, Commander George Marvell. Many views of waterways and scenic places ashore at Shanghai, Nanking, Kuling, Chefoo. Views of boat races at Shanghai. Cover of album has detached from binding, some pages are loosening. Many photos have been assigned NH numbers.
