Description: 20 prints, primarily on double-sided papers, taken between 1867 and 1883. Some taken by Surgeon S.D. Kennedy, USN. This was donated by Mr. W. Beverley Mason Jr. to the Naval Historical Foundation in June 1962. Ships include: USS HARTFORD; USS OSSIPPEE (NH51182) at Honolulu, T.H., 1867; Bark ORDOVIC; Chelsea Ferry CITY OF MALDEN. Places: BOSTON, U.S.A.; MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY; HONOLULU, T.H.; MADEIRA, AZORES. Other images show various aspects of shipboard life, c. August-September 1882, including gun and sword drill; ship’s officers in wardroom; spar deck; auction of items in ship’s “Lucky Bag” washing down decks, etc. Some images have been assigned NH numbers.
