Description: Collection of 66 color slides related to the naval service of YN2 James E. King aboard USS Forrestal (CV-59) during its 1967 cruise. Of specific note are the images associated with the 29 July 1967 fire aboard the ship, including post-fire recovery operations on the flight deck showing damaged aircraft, firefighting operations, details of the bomb damaged flight deck and damaged gun turrets. Additional subject matter includes Crossing the Line ceremony and events; USS Dyess (DDR-880) providing an escort to Mayport, FL; and a single view of USS Prairie (AD-15).
