S-522 Captain Donald G. Irvine Collection

Photo album of activities during CAPT Irvine’s tour as Chief, Navy Section, Military Assistance Advisory Group, China, June 1960-June 1962. The album was presented to CAPT and Mrs. Irvine by Admiral and Mrs. Ni Yue-Si, Republic of China (ROC) Navy. The activities in the images are almost entirely ceremonial (mainly social gatherings) and meetings, attended by senior Chinese officers, MAAG officers and visiting US Navy senior officers in June 1960 to June 1962. The majority of images were taken at the Chinese Navy Base, Tsoying, Taiwan, but also include several at the ROC Naval HQ, Shung Shan Airport, and the ROC Presidential Residence. Chinese individuals of note include: President Chiang Kai Shek, ADM and Mrs. Hi Yue-Si, VADM Tsao, VADM Huang, RADM Cheng Chin Kun, RADM Yu Pei-Sheng, VADM Tsui, GEN Peng Meng-Chi, GEN Chiang Ching-Kou, MGEN Hu, RADM Chen, and LTGEN Tsen.
