Title: Lisa Erickson Photo Collection
Description: Collection of 21 photos related to the attack and sinking of USS Yorktown (CV-5) during the Battle of Midway. Images were originally collected and in the possession of Theodore Donaldson, the donor’s father. It is very likely that these are copies of official US Navy photos as several have been identified as imagery that is part of the National Archive’s collection. Seen in the photos are views of the aerial torpedoes hitting the ship, the ship sinking, and anti-aircraft fire. Also included in the collection are two images of the USS Enterprise (CV-6). It is unknown if the donor obtained the images during his naval service or at a later time.
