Description: 33 photographs related to the donor’s father, Lieutenant Commander Abraham DeSomer, who was awarded the Medal of Honor at Veracruz in 1914. Photos cover his entire naval career from 1901-1931, as both an enlisted sailor and an officer. Portraits of DeSomer including wearing his Medal of Honor on board USS California (BB-44) and his 1931 retirement ceremony at Pearl Harbor. Also shown: USS Dobbin (AD-3), USS Utah (BB-31) rifle team 1913, Naval Training Station Great Lakes 1921, actresses Monie (?) Troupe and Dorothy DeVore, USS Lexington (CV-2), USS Yorktown (Gunboat #1), DeSomer with President John F. Kennedy, Bremerton, Panama Canal, Spanish-American War monuments in Cuba including San Juan Hill, mine damage to USS Minnesota (BB-22), launching of USS San Francisco (CA-38). A significant portion of this collection was removed and assigned to the NH collection.
