Scrapbook (photos, articles, menus, playbills, pamphlets, etc.) related to Donaho’s years at the US Naval Academy, class of 1927. Photos include fellow midshipman; family; friends; campus buildings; football games; cruise aboard USS Texas (BB-35) with stops in Gibraltar and Torquay, England; cruise aboard USS Utah (BB-31) sailing through Panama Canal and off the west coast (including views of Pt. Honda, CA); shipboard and shore scenes including scrubbing the decks, church services, and city scenes in Tijuana, Mexico.

Scrapbook (photos, articles, documents, etc.) related to Donaho’s service aboard USS Flying Fish (SS-229) as its commanding officer in the Pacific during WWII. Subject matter consists of portraits of LCDR Donaho; commissioning ceremonies at Portsmouth Navy Yard; Donaho receiving the Navy Cross aboard USS Flying Fish; ADM Chester Nimitz presenting medals to Donaho; officers and crew of ship; staff of Submarine Squadron 4; aerial views of Wakayama, Japan (shows the beach with landed LSTs and LSMs); USS Howard W. Gilmore (AS-16) in Subic Bay; and Donaho as director of Navy Recruiting, 1946-1947 including office and staff scenes. Also included are several photos and clippings of the USS R-14 (SS-91) when LT Donaho was in command, 1941. The images show submarines being used as training subs off New London, CT. There are several loose prints relating to the change of command ceremony of CAPT. Donaho taking over command of the Submarine Squadron 3 and Submarine Group San Diego from CAPT. Fred B. Also includes articles related to deaths during both battle and during peaceful operations – presumably persons involved were friends or acquaintances of Donaho.

Scrapbook during Donaho’s tenure as commander of Destroyer Flotilla Three from September 1957 to September 1958. The album is entitled “Officer’s Wives, Destroyer Flotilla Three” and the book consists of photographs of various events held by the wives of officers of Destroyer Flotilla Three, Destroyer Squadron 13, USS Brice Canyon (AD-36) and Destroyer Squadron 9. A full listing of the identified women is available.
