NHF-090 Lieutenant Charles Dutreaux Collection

245 page photo album donated by Lieutenant Charles Dutreaux to the Naval Historical Foundation, and later donated to the Naval History and Heritage Command. The black and white and color images in the album portray Dutreaux’s U.S. Navy service from the Spanish-American War through the years immediately following World War I. USS Olympia (C-6), including Admiral George Dewey, other members of crew; Spanish ships sunk at Battle of Manila Bay; USS San Francisco (C-6); USS Raleigh (C-8) with visit of President William McKinley; USS Hartford circa 1901 with scenes onboard; USS Baltimore (C-3); USS George Washington circa World War I; USS Ingraham (DD-111); USS Mexican; USS Tarbell (DD-142); scenes in Europe circa World War I. There are dozens of photos of individuals and ships which do not have captions. Leather covers damaged by mold, and as such were removed and disposed of. Glue backing on photos is fragile, some photos are loose or in the process of coming loose. Many photos have been assigned NH numbers.
