Enlist In the Coast Guard SPARS

Similar to the Army and Navy women’s reserves, the SPARs were established to release men from stateside service for overseas duty. The Coast Guards Women’s Reserve was created on 23 November 1942. The acronym SPAR is a shortening of the Coast Guard’s motto “Semper Paratus” and its translation “Always Ready”.
