On 18 July 1812 the frigate Constitution mistakenly fell in with a powerful British squadron off New Jersey.  For two days Captain Isaac Hull masterfully used every method at his disposal to outsail the enemy.  In this scene sailors in the ship’s boats tow the frigate away from her pursuers.
