As the aircraft carrier crossed the Atlantic to the Middle East, the tempo became progressively more demanding. USS John F Kennedy (CV-67) moved from the practice of working up to reach the level of readiness for any assignment. These were the first missiles brought up from the magazines that meant they were ready to play for keeps with the Iraqi forces.
