Pearl (S.P. 1219)

The Navy retained the name carried by this small craft at the time of her acquisition.

(S.P. 1219: length 45'0" (overall); beam 9'0"; draft 2'0": speed 12.0 knots (maximum), 10.0 (cruising); complement 7)

The single-screw wooden-hulled motor boat Pearl -- built in 1912 -- was acquired under free-lease from W. H. Saunders and was delivered to the Navy on 23 August 1917 and having been assigned the identification number S.P. 1219, was commissioned the same day.

Acquired to perform "special duty," Pearl was returned to her owner on 23 December 1918, two days before Christmas.
