Rectangular brass pendant with relief depiction of USS Arizona. Pendant embossed above image "U.S.S. Arizona" and below image 1923.

Title: Pendant, USS Arizona (BB-39), 1923
Accession #: NHHC 2017.001.022
Circa: 1923
Size: 1.75 x 1
Medium: Brass
Location: Headquarters Artifact Collection, Naval History and Heritage Command

One rectangular brass pendant with black string. On the obverse is a relief image of the battleship USS Arizona (BB-39) underway with signal flags strung from fore to aft of the ship. The medal is embossed above the image "U.S.S. Arizona" and below is the year 1923.

This medal is the cover of a pendant-like dance card. There would be a slip of paper attached behind the medal that listed the number and types of dances. It was worn around the neck and the wearer would check off the dances as they occurred. This was most likely from a dance hosted in honor of the ship and her crew in 1923.
