Glass Stemware, CSS Alabama

One complete and three fragmented clear glass stemware recovered from CSS Alabama. The bowl’s design has three parallel lines near the rim that cross at intervals to create a diamond shape and ten cut oval depressions encircling the bottom. The bowl tapers to the stem of the glass and enlarges at the base.
Title: Glass Stemware, CSS Alabama
Caption: Glass stemware drinking cups from CSS Alabama
Description: Nine decorated stemware drinking glasses, presumably part of a matching set used by the officers, were recovered during excavations of CSS Alabama. The bowls are decorated with three parallel lines with cross-hatched diamond designs near the top and oval depressions that encircle the bottom. It is unknown whether this set was supplied to the officers when the ship was first outfitted or if they were pilfered from a captured vessel.
