Sketch of U.S.S. Sterett's encounter with a German submarine
This sketch was included with Lieutenant Commander Allan S. Farquhar's report on an engagement between his ship, the Sterett, and a German U-boat. The sub was later determined to be U-97. Although they were not successful in destroying the submarine, the British admiral in command at Queenstown, Ireland was impressed enough at their pursuit to award the crew a commendation.
