Stono
(SwStr: t. 453; l. 171'6"; b. 31'4"; dph. 9'; a. 1 30-pdr., 8 8")
Stono, formerly USS Isaac Smith, was captured by masked batteries while reconnoitering in Stono River on 30 January 1863. She was taken into the Confederate Navy and put in service in the waters around Charleston, S.C., with Lt. W. G. Dozier, CSN, in command. Because of her great speed she was loaded with cotton, and attempted to run the blockade on 5 June 1863. She was wrecked on the breakwater near Fort Moultrie, S.C., at that time.
