Berosa was an antiquated and worn out craft used by the Confederates to transport cargo. While sailing from St. Mary's River on 8 April 1863 she sprang a leak and defied attempts to save her. Berosa was abandoned in the Gulf Stream at latitude 29- 50', longitude 79- 50'.
