Description: In drydock at the Mare Island Navy Yard, California, for installation of a new bow, circa February-March 1942. Shaw's midships and after hull, which had survived the explosion of her forward magazines during the 7 December 1941 Pearl Harbor raid, is at right. The new bow, still largely in frame, is at left, surrounded by scaffolding. Note Mare Island Navy Yard Official Photograph logo in lower right.
