Finding Aid: This collection of Personnel images is divided up by Flag Officers (Admirals and Commodores), Captain to Lieutenant Commander (This includes staff officers with the later rank equivalent), Lieutenant to Midshipman (Including Staff Officers), Enlisted ranks, US Marines, and Ship Crew and Group Photos. Many photos are Personnel:Navy Veteran, and are categorized with their rank during the war. If a photo shows a particular rank on the uniform, the image is organized under that rank, for example, John Dahlgren held ranks of Commander to Admiral during the Civil War; thusly images of him are organized by his rank at the time of the photo.
