Description: Halftone reproduction of a photograph, copied from the official publication "Medal of Honor, 1861-1949, The Navy", page 247. Lawson P. Ramage was awarded the Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry" while serving as Commanding Officer of USS Parche during a predawn attack on a Japanese convoy off Takao, Taiwan on 31 July 1944. Participating with USS Steelhead in a daring predawn surface attack on a Japanese convoy off Takao, Taiwan, he led his crew to sink the Japanese transport Manko Maru and tanker Koei Maru while also damaging two other Japanese vessels. Ramage then led his crew as she teamed up with Steelhead to sink Japanese army cargo ship Yoshino Maru.
