Description: Photo #: S-511-59 Transport (AP) - Converted from AN Preliminary design plan prepared during examination of proposals to alter ships under construction. This plan, dated 7 January 1943, is for a 8575-ton, 440-foot long personnel and vehicle transport (AP, later redesignated LSV) converted from a net layer (see Photo # s-511-24). This is probably the preliminary design for what became the Osage (LSV-3) class. Scale of the original drawings is 1/32 = 1'. The original plan is in the 1939-1944 Spring Styles Book held by the Naval History and Heritage Command. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
