Caption: On 7 March 1814, after a long chase by the British 36-gun frigate HMS BELIRDERA, the 40-gun frigate HMS ENDYMION, and the 18-gun brig HMS RATTLER, drove on shore the United States privateer MARS of 15 guns and 70 men at Sandy Hook and sent in their boats, under the command of Lieutenant John Sykes, first lieutenant of the BELIRDERA, who completed MARS' destruction.
