Watlington, member of advertising firm of Watlington, David and Merkle, who , while searching the world to find a symbol of baking honesty and quality for the Pillsbury Co. of Minneapolis Minnesota, discovered on a remote Samoan island the "vision of baking beauty," an island princess known affectionately as Aunt Jemima. Believed to be 4 July 1799.
